Winter Pickleball League Winners

The Hannibal Parks & Recreation Winter Pickleball League ended Monday with a single-elimination tournament in the competitive division.

Colin Anderson and Jamie Nemes were the winners; with Randy Uppinghouse and Jarrett Porter winning second place.

Catelyn Steinmeyer and Adrienne Long won the intermediate division with the overall best record. Joe and Alex Friday won second place.

There were 11 teams in the competitive league, 10 teams in the intermediate division and 6 teams in the leisure league.

Registration is open for leisure, intermediate and competitive divisions in the Spring Pickleball League, which begins March 7.  Games will be played Thursday evenings through April 11 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. A competitive tournament will be April 18.

Registration is due Feb. 28 or until spots are filled. Registration is available at the Hannibal Parks & Recreation office at City Hall, 320 Broadway.

Pickleball nets are available at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There are also pickleball courts at Norfolk & Southern Multisports Park, 621 Warren Barrett Drive; and at the Huckleberry Park tennis courts.

Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net.
