Dark Sky

DATE AND TIME

11/13 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Hannibal Parks & Recreation is sponsoring a nature program called “The Darker the Sky the Better” starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at Huckleberry Park.

Come learn about the importance of dark skies which are not only for those who like to view the stars but for the benefit of plants and animals including humans.

The inappropriate or excessive use of artificial light – known as light pollution – can have serious environmental consequences for humans, wildlife and climate, according to the International Dark Sky Association.

Nature programs are free and more information can be found by calling 573-221-0154 or emailing mlrichards@hannibal-mo.gov

Scavenger Hunts

The Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department has developed Scavenger Hunts to encourage visitors to the Hannibal parks. Hannibal children, along with visitors to Hannibal, will have a chance to explore our parks in a different way. These free activities allow participants to learn more about Hannibal Parks and to earn a free treat from a local business in the process!

Here are the scavenger hunts available so far (check back for future additions).
