Birdwatchers can expect to see a variety of species during the late summer migration. There will be a Bird Walk at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at Sodalis Nature Preserve.

Hannibal Parks & Recreation nature programs are led by Nature Interpreter Gale Rublee and members of the Mississippi Hills Missouri Master Naturalist chapter. “August often brings bird migrations from purple martins who go all the way to Brazil to the ruby-throated hummingbirds arriving from Canada and the upper Midwest,” she said. She suggests bringing binoculars and downloading the Merlin Bird App for learning bird calls. Beginner and experienced birders are welcome.

Nature programs are free due to the generous support of Hannibal BASF. Register online at www.hannibalparks.org,
