The boat ramp at the Hannibal marina will be closed this week so Hannibal Parks & Recreation personnel can dredge without interruption.
The ramp will be open again Friday evening but will close again on Monday, Oct. 10 if more dredging is needed.
HPR purchased a Mud Cat MC 115D Dredge from Ellicott Dredge Technologies recently. A representative from Ellicott is training HPR personnel to operate the equipment this week. The dredge vacuums up the unwanted sediment and debris and pumps it to a dredge pit south of the marina. The sediment becomes fill soil that can be recycled throughout the park system.
The maintenance dredging of the Hannibal marina will take place yearly after the boating season.
