Kiwanis Park will be the location of Central Park Farmers Market starting June 28, due to construction at Central Park.

The farmers market is open 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturdays and 3-7 p.m. Tuesdays. There will be live music playing during market hours, along with a yoga class from Twisted Juniper Yoga offered at 9 a.m.

Steve Huse, market manager, said he is excited about the challenge of a new location this year. “There are more vendors than ever and we will have plenty of shade and room for everyone, along with a playground for the kids!”

This is the fifth year that several of the vendors are eligible to take SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits for payment, through a program with Douglass Community Services.

About 40 vendors participate in the Farmers Market each week. A list of the items include:  Tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, kale, onions, cabbage, spinach, potatoes, carrots, zucchini, peppers, yellow squash, beets, watermelon, hot peppers, mushrooms, sweet corn, green beans, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, beef, honeydew melons, cherries, strawberries, cantaloupe, apples, blueberries, blackberries, baked goods, goat’s milk soap, coffee, flowers, herbs, jam, jelly and bread.

Central Park renovation will begin after National Tom Sawyer Days ends, with a facelift to repair the bandstand, sidewalks, curbs and gutters and the fountain.
