New targets are available at Indoor Archery at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. Archery can be practiced every Wednesday from 6:30-9 p.m. starting Jan.7, 2026.
Hannibal Parks & Recreation recently purchased new deer and bear targets along with inserts for the variety of 3D targets, such as turkey, bears, badgers, rabbits, dinosaurs, wolves and coyotes.
Recreation Supervisor Emily Hultgren said there are physical and mental benefits from archery. “It improves upper body strength and enhances coordination and balance,” she said. She added that stress relief can be found in the repetitive, focused nature of archery.
Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and everyone must bring their own bows and arrows. This is not an instructional program, it provides a place for archery practice. The cost is $5 per visit. A season pass is $50.
A waiver must be filled out by all participants at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.
