The sixth annual Pedal Power event is Jan. 18 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

The Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department is opening up the building from 10 a.m. to noon for youngsters ages 2-6 to bring their pedal-powered vehicles inside to ride. It’s the only day vehicles are allowed inside the building.

Parents as Teachers will have other interactive play available.

Whitney Holliday, director of Parents as Teachers, said, “Hannibal Parents as Teachers is proud to partner with Hannibal Parks & Recreation for Pedal Power. The Admiral Coontz Recreation Center is the perfect location for children to come and bring any pedal-powered vehicle for a morning of fun.”

She said both Hannibal Parks & Recreation and Parents as Teachers strive to help children experience all types of play. “Children have a natural desire to be active. Pedal Power is set up for children to get moving with a pedal-powered vehicle and moving helps children develop new skills and interests.”

Big Wheels, tricycles, bicycles with training wheels and other pedal-powered vehicles are allowed. Children may not be left at the event without a parent or guardian.
