A free class for anyone interested in learning about pickleball will be 5:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

Hannibal area pickleball enthusiasts are offering a class to teach people how to play pickleball. Jenna McDonald, recreation supervisor at Hannibal Parks & Recreation, said, “It’s a great way for people to learn the basics,” she said. “Pickleball is simple to learn and good for all ages and skill levels.”

The class is free but reservations are requested by emailing jmcdonald@hannibal-mo.gov or calling 573-221-0154. Equipment will be provided.

Tom Batenhorst, Hannibal Park Board president and other Hannibal area pickleball enthusiasts will be teaching the class.

Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net.
