The Admiral Coontz Recreation Center will reopen to the public at 7:30 a.m. July 8.

The facility has been closed since April 29 due to flooding.

Summer hours are in effect for the recreation center, 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. The exception is for Senior Adult Dances which will be noon to 3 p.m. Wednesdays. The Senior Dances have been at Greater Days, 111 N. Main St., when the Recreation Center is closed. The senior dances will be at Greater Days July 3 but will be at the Rec Center beginning July 10 and there will be a carry-in to celebrate.

The Senior Adult Dances have featured the music of the Betty Parsons Miller and the Uptown Strings for 45 years.

There will still be some cleanup going on at the Rec Center so not all equipment will be available, for instance the pickleball lines have not been taped to the floor yet. The walking track (12 laps equal 1 mile) will be available along with the Play without Boundaries Sensory Room.  There are games, puzzles and supplies for all-inclusive indoor play for adults and children.

People are asked to be cautious of any cleanup or construction going on.
