Sandbagging operations have been suspended for the time being at the Street Department maintenance facility in Hannibal. More than 100 volunteers worked this morning to stockpile sandbags for future flooding. Sandbagging took place Tuesday, May 28, to Friday May 31.
The city of Hannibal is very grateful to the hundreds of volunteers who helped make sandbags for the Hannibal levee and also for area residents needing help protecting property from floodwaters. Thousands of the sandbags made went to local residents.
Also, the city of Hannibal thanks the Red Cross, County Market, Hardee’s, International Eyecare, and others who donated food and drink for the volunteers.
