Registration for Hannibal Area Shooter’s Education Youth BB Gun League is 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

All students and parents are encouraged to attend, hear about the program, register and ask questions.

The first night is Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center. Participants are divided into two groups, 6-7:30 p.m. and 7:10-8:30 p.m., with each group attending classroom sessions from 7:15 to 7:30 p.m. The class is Thursdays through Feb. 27. There will be no class during school holidays or weather-related closings.

The free class is a firearm safety awareness program for children ages 8-18, sponsored by Hannibal Parks & Recreation. Topics include ethics, sportsmanship, fundamentals for firing a gun, ammunition knowledge and safe gun handling, wildlife management and animal identification. This is not a hunter certification course.
