A record turnout of participants made ShredFest even more special Saturday, July 27.

There were 65 skateboarders, bikers and scooter riders in the contests at the Ramp Park and hundreds of spectators enjoying the show. There was also a demo of professional athletes.

A special award was given for sportsmanship to celebrate Hannibal’s Bicentennial. The Awesome Sportsmanship Awards went to: Shelby Meyer and Ayden Barker.

Paula Epker, Hannibal Ramp Park manager, said the award was very special. “We were looking for riders who always show good sportsmanship even under pressure to other riders, staff and the community. We wanted to honor riders who show integrity inside and outside the park and who present themselves well in our community. We chose riders who are good role models to others,” she said. The winners of the Awesome Sportsmanship Awards share several qualities: “Positive attitude, encouraging, helpful, has integrity, is respectful and is an all-round great role model for others.”

ShredFest was sponsored by Hannibal Parks & Recreation.

Helmets were donated by CoolByke, Midwest Orthopedic and Heartland Auto Body & Towing.

The emcee was Casey Otto from P9 Entertainment.  Prizes were provided by Coolbyke Bicycle Shop and Pedal’rs Bicycle Shop. Mark Twain Dinette had a food truck at the park all weekend.

Tom and Becky, Jack Myers and Tallin Sims, helped distribute the helmets and awards.
