Evans Trail

To celebrate the day before Father’s Day, there will be a cleanup and maintenance work day at Sodalis Nature Preserve.

Solstice Service Project will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 19 at Sodalis Nature Preserve.

Gale Rublee, nature educator for Hannibal Parks & Recreation said, “We will hike the Purple Ribbon Trail and Evan’s trail at the Sodalis Nature Preserve, in honor of fathers and others who created these trails. Both of these trails get people closer to nature, and many studies show that being in nature is healing. In our gratitude for the people who built these trails and the land that heals us with its beauty, we will do some trail maintenance.“

Participants are asked to meet at the entrance to Evan’s Trail at the top of the hill in Sodalis Nature Preserve. Gloves and clippers would be useful but trash bags will be provided.

Rublee has more than 25 years of experience as a nature educator. She is a founding member of the Mississippi Hills Master Naturalists chapter in Hannibal.

Reservations are suggested by calling Hannibal Parks & Recreation at 221-0154 or emailing mlrichards@hannibal-mo.gov.
