Volunteers are needed for a spring cleanup April 27 to get rid of trash and debris around Hannibal.

Volunteers should meet anytime from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, at the Y’Men’s Pavilion, 105 Hill St.

Stream Team t-shirts will be available for the first 100 participants. Breakfast will be provided by County Market.  Mark Twain Dinette will provide coupons.

The 1819 Stream Team is providing gloves and trash bags. Hannibal Parks & Recreation and Hannibal Area Chamber of Commerce are cosponsoring the event.

There will be employees from Board of Public Works driving around during the cleanup to pick up the bags of trash so the volunteers don’t have to bring them back to the Dumpster at the Y’Men’s Pavilion.

The participants usually end up with about 500 pounds of trash.

A number of places around town have been identified for volunteers to pick up. Several participants in the Adopt-A-Highway program with Missouri Department of Transportation will be out cleaning their adopted spots as well.

Volunteers are encouraged to come out and join in helping clean up Hannibal for Spring. Participants are encouraged to use the hashtag #TrashtagHannibal200 in social media posts to show off their work.
