It’s easy to combat the winter blues by getting outside and attending a Hannibal Parks & Recreation nature program.
Walking in a Winter Wonderland family nature program is 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at Riverview Park. Participants should meet at the North Ramble/Eagle Scout Trail or near the North River Road Trail just past the four-way stop.
Gale Rublee, nature interpreter for Hannibal Parks & Recreation, said, “With or without snow, taking a walk in the woods in the winter is still a fun time to explore.”
With snow, animal tracks become visible and tell a story of foraging and survival. Without snow, there’s still signs to look for like where deer have been nibbling or where squirrels have built their tree nests. Getting out in nature in any season gives us opportunities to enjoy being outside and is good for mental and physical health.
Nature programs are free due to the generous sponsorship of Hannibal BASF but reservations required on Hannibalparks.org website.
