Programs & Events

HPR offers many programs and recreational opportunities. We strive to offer activities for all ages, all levels of ability and a variety of interests. We want to promote healthy, active lifestyles. Call 573-221-0154 for details. Or, submit a request for information HERE.

Toddler Tuesdays
Every Tuesday from 9-11AM (may be canceled due to special events)
Admiral Coontz Recreation Center
For children up to 5 years old
Young children will be able to use the gym without colliding with basketball players
Imagination Playground building blocks will be brought into the gymnasium
There are also coloring books, puzzles, balls and games
This is not a babysitting service - each adult is allowed to bring no more than four children and must sign in with the attendant

Indoor Archery
Wednesdays, December 6, 2017-February 21, 2018 - 6:30-9PM
Admiral Coontz Recreation Center
Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult
Participants must bring their own bow and arrows
This program is not instructional - it is a place for participants to practice
$5 per visit or $40 for a season pass

Spring Pickleball
Thursday evenings - March 1, 2018 through April 12, 2018 (no games April 5th)
Admiral Coontz Recreation Center
Leisure, Intermediate, and Competitive Leagues
Limit of 32 teams
$35 per team (doubles only) - ages 13 & up
A competitive league tournament will be held on April 19th

Partner Dancing
Wednesdays in March (7, 14, 21, and 28) from 7-8PM
Admiral Coontz Recreation Center
The cost is $5 per person per class (no pre-registration needed)
The class will teach moves for open dancing as well as sequential moves to a song. The first class will be waltz, but swing, jive, cha cha and other styles will be taught.
David Jameson will teach the class, he has 18 years of dance training. He has taught dance at Karen’s Dance Academy, is choreographer for Bluff City Theater and has been a company member for a national dance convention in Las Vegas.

Equinox Night Hike through Sodalis Nature Preserve
Friday, March 23, 2018 - 6PM
Sodalis Nature Preserve (Meet in the parking lot)
Hike up to the bat caves, exploring nature signs along the way. Pause for a story at the top then return in the dark with sensory awareness activities. Hike will be on paved paths, about 2 miles.
Free but reservations must be made by calling Hannibal Parks & Recreation at 221-0154 or emailing mlrichards@hannibal-mo.gov

Senior Expo
Thursday, April 19, 2018 - 10AM-1PM

Scavenger Hunts
The Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department has developed Scavenger Hunts to encourage visitors to the HPR sites
These free activities allow participants to learn more about Hannibal Parks and to earn a free treat from a local business in the process!
