Seasonal Maintenance Worker

DESCRIPTION

Employees must possess the abilities of maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; moderate to heavy continuous lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds; pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, climbing and kneeling; use of fingers, both hands and both legs required. Also, the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Experience with lawn care equipment is preferred, but is not necessary.

The employee must be at least 16 years old with a valid driver’s license at time of employment.

This seasonal position will work 8 hour shifts Monday through Friday from 7am-3:30pm. The rate of pay is $9.50 per hour.

Job duties include:

Operating equipment, such as vehicles, mowers, weed eaters, brush cutters, hand tools, etc. It includes minor maintenance, cleaning and trash collection at parks/facilities; painting; watering trees, flowers; baseball field prep, and any other items deemed necessary for proper operation of the parks system.

Pool Positions: Lifeguards and Front Desk/Concessions

Hannibal Aquatic Center • 1 Position Available • Part-Time • Hourly
DESCRIPTION

Lifeguard Requirements

15 years of age or older
Completion of lifeguard training provided by Hannibal Parks & Recreation:

  • Swim 300 yards continuously (Prerequisite)
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs (Prerequisite)
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds (Prerequisite)
  • Attend and participate in all class sessions
  • Demonstrate competency in all required skills and activities
  • Demonstrate competency in all required final rescue skill scenarios
  • Correctly answer at least 80 percent of the questions in each of the two sections of the final written exam

Description

Lifeguard
Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons at the aquatic facility. Oversee activities, pool parties and assist with swimming lessons. Explain and enforce rules, regulations, and policies. Respond to emergencies and rescuing swimmers in danger of drowning.  Rate of pay is $9 per hour.

Front Desk/Concession
Provides good customer service by being friendly, tactful, courteous. Maintains alert and professional at all times. Administers and enforce pool rules.  Responsible for register operations including accurately collecting and depositing money and selling items. Prepares food in a safe and clean manner. Ensures a high level of cleanliness and safety with food preparation equipment and dispensers. Performs daily open and closing cleaning duties. Rate of pay is $8.60 per hour.
