Girl Scout Troop 9012 presented the Hannibal City Council with a proposal for playground equipment at Ann Dorsey Hodgdon Park at Tuesday’s Council meeting.

The Girl Scouts who attended were: Audra St. Juliana, Blair Johnson, Emily Hurst, Erin Clark, Faith Watkins and Zayli Miller. Their coaches are Debbie Ziegler and Rhonda Eitel. During the meeting, the Girl Scouts reported how they chose the playground equipment and other amenities they would like in the park.

Andy Dorian, Central Services director, said a new shelter, sidewalks and playground will be added to the 11-acre park. He said work on Ann Dorsey Hodgdon has been in the plans for awhile, but when the Girl Scout troop attended a Park Board meeting seeking more playground equipment downtown, it was decided to allow the troop to be more involved. “We sent all the playground options to the Girl Scouts and they had a lengthy discussion at one of their meetings looking over all the different playgrounds. We were able to provide the girls 20 different playground proposals to pick from.”

The Girl Scout troop chose the playground equipment and colors, blue and gray.

The City Council accepted the $68,250 bid for the playground at Ann Dorsey, which is located at Rock and Section Streets.
