Bird watchers have to get up early for the best opportunities to see and hear the most species.
There will be a Bird Walk at Sodalis Nature Preserve at 8 a.m. Saturday, April 27 called Early Bird Catches the Worm.
Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars. Hannibal Parks & Recreation interpreter guide Gale Rublee said, “Birds can be identified by their call even if you can’t see them. Experienced birders are welcome as we would appreciate your expertise in identifying the birds. We’ll also discuss some of the unique habits of birds and their life cycle.
Participants should meet at the new Sodalis Shelter on Ely Street. The walk will be on paved, flat trail and will be a little more than an hour.
The Bird Walk will be led by Rublee and members of the Mississippi Hills Master Naturalist chapter.
The program is free and open to the public but participation is limited. Register for space at www.hannibalparks.recdesk.com/Community/Program
