As an abundance of caution, Hannibal Parks & Recreation is closing down all playgrounds and removing picnic tables to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), effective immediately and until further notice.

Parks and trails will remain open and residents are encouraged to use the parks but not congregate and to observe social distancing of 6 feet from others.

Playground equipment will be roped off or removed at Huckleberry Park, Riverview Park, Kiwanis Park, Douglass School/Arizona Cleaver Stemmons Park, Spooner Creek Park and West Ely Park.

Transmission of COVID-19 could occur from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects, then touching mouth, nose or possibly eyes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
