Senior citizens are more important that ever in an election year. The theme of the 14th annual Senior Expo will be “Your Voice Counts.” The Senior Expo will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, April 16 at the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

Stacey Nicholas, director of Douglass Community Services Community Outreach program, said, “Retiring or being a mature person is challenging. It takes courage to make your presence known in today’s society, when things are changing at such a rapid pace.  We encourage our senior citizens to use their voices and their votes to make sure their needs and wants are being met.”

There will be two elections going on at the Senior Expo: participants will vote on the best vendor and the theme of next year’s Senior Expo.

About 600 senior adults are expected to attend with about 80 vendors.

Vendors are being sought on a first-come, first served basis. To register, contact Nicholas at 573-221-3892 ext. 247, communityoutreach@douglassonline.org.

Early bird deadline for registration is March 10 and regular deadline is March 30.
