The Hannibal Tree Board is celebrating Arbor Day by planting trees in Central Park at 1:30 p.m. April 26.

Fourth graders from area schools will help plant the trees. The Tree Board is sponsoring the tree planting, with the help of the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department.

The Tree Board will plant a burr oak tree near the statue of William Henry Hatch as part of the Bicentennial celebration of Hannibal. There will be a black gum tree planted in memory of C.O. “Bud” Schulten and a northern red oak tree planted in memory of Roy and May Belle Stout.

Tree Board members Ed Tamerius, Kyle Monroe, Kristy Trevathan, Stephan Franke, Harry Graves and Maxx Vance will participate. The city of Hannibal was named a Tree City USA for the 20th year.
